The book begins just before Wilder's ninth birthday and follows at least two harvest cycles. Set around 1866, it describes in detail the endless chores involved in running the Wilder family farm and Almanzo's part in it. The novel includes stories of Almanzo's brother Royal and his sisters, Eliza Jane and Alice. Farmer Boy, published in 1933, is the second of the Little House series. It is the sole book that does not focus on the childhood of Laura Ingalls.

Laura's old nemesis, Nellie Oleson, makes a brief appearance during two Sunday buggy rides with Almanzo. Laura is annoyed by Nellie's chatter and flirtatious behavior towards Almanzo. Shortly thereafter, Nellie moves back to New York after her family loses its homestead.

Laura’s Early Years Collection comes in an attractive package that contains three books titled Little House in the Big Woods, Little House on the Prairie, and On the Banks of Plum Creek. Laura has witnessed the changing seasons, people, and time. But one thing has been a constant companion throughout her life. Her father is building their farmhouse and she dreams of the day they’ll have their own bright crop to harvest. But before that can happen, she has a fierce ice storm to contend with and her first real Christmas in the Ozarks to enjoy. The first book in the Rose series, Little House on Rocky Ridge, traces the journey of Rose and her parents from the Ingalls farm in the drought-stricken Midwest to the lush green valleys of Missouri. The journey is long and not always easy, but at the end is the promise of a new home and a new life for the Wilders.
Little House on the Prairie Books in Order
The girls are left alone, and they spend their days and nights boarding and feeding all the pioneers passing through. They charge 25 cents for dinner and boarding, starting a savings account toward sending Mary to the School for the Blind in Vinton, Iowa, which Mary begins to attend later in the series. Little House on the Prairie, published in 1935, is the third of the series of books known as the Little House series, but only the second book to focus on the life of the Ingalls family. West from Home, published in 1974 is a collection of letters sent from Laura to her husband Almanzo when she was sent to San Fransisco to write about the World’s Fair in 1915. The letters detail her train trip and vividly record the sights of her journey and her destination.

The Long Winter (
By the Shores of Silver Lake was published in 1939 and is fifth in the series. The Ingalls family finances have improved to the point that Pa can sell a cow to purchase a sewing machine for Ma. Laura continues to teach and work as a seamstress, and Almanzo invites Laura to attend a new "singing school" with him and her classmates. On the last evening of singing school, while driving Laura home, Almanzo – who has by now been courting Laura for three years – proposes to her. During their next ride, Almanzo presents Laura with a garnet-and-pearl ring and they share their first kiss. At around the same time as occurrence of the literary meetings, Almanzo Wilder begins escorting Laura home from school.
A) Little House: The Martha Years
Caroline Quiner, who later grows up to be Ma Ingalls, is living with her family in Brookfield, Wisconsin. It’s been a year since her father was lost at the sea, and her family is still trying to cope with the changes. Martha is now ten years old, and she is traveling for the first time! She pays a visit to her newly married older sister, Grisie, who now lives in the crowded city of Perth. Martha has seen nothing but the Heather Hills for ten years.
Other episodes (especially in Season Eight) were time compressed and are NTSC-converted video prints from UK PAL masters, while others were derived from 16MM syndication prints, also from Worldvision. Only a handful of episodes in the original sets were in their original uncut versions. The first three seasons of the old sets notably are also missing closed captioning. The third and final chapter book series narrates the childhood stories of Laura Ingalls’ daughter, Rose Wilder Lane. Written by Roger Lea MacBride, the Rose series contains five chapter books adapted from The Rose Years novels.
Laura did not want to be a farm wife, but she consented to try farming for three years. At the end of that time, Laura and Almanzo mutually agreed to continue for one more year, a "year of grace". The book ends at the close of that fourth year on a rather optimistic note.
With a blocked railway track and few resources to rely on, the Ingalls family must make it through the winter. She gets to visit the town with the cheerful Mr. Carpenter. She also gets to celebrate at a Maple Frolic with all her neighbors. Caroline and Martha may be sisters, but they are nothing alike.
Laura plays with her bulldog Jack when she is home, and she and Mary are invited to a party at the Olesons' home. Laura and Mary invite all the girls (including Nellie) to a party at their house to reciprocate. The family soon goes through hard times when a plague of Rocky Mountain locusts, or grasshoppers, devastates their crops.
